Adam Idah’s bad news
Celtic forward Adam Idah has withdrawn from international duty with Ireland after suffering a facial injury in Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock. The 22-year-old was scheduled to join the Republic of Ireland squad on Monday, but he informed the FAI that he would be unavailable due to injury.
The incident occurred during Celtic’s 2-0 victory at Rugby Park, when Idah received a heavy elbow to the face, causing a nosebleed and necessitating extensive on-field treatment. Though Idah finished the game until he was replaced by Kyogo Furuhashi, the injury appeared severe enough to make him reconsider playing through the pain in Ireland’s upcoming games.
Celtic’s hectic fixture list
With Celtic’s fixture list packed following this year’s final international break, it appears that the striker is prioritising his club duties. If the injury is limited to his face, Idah may be able to return to Celtic’s lineup for their match against Hearts on November 23.
The Hoops won comfortably 2-0 over Kilmarnock, thanks to goals from captain Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to have Idah fit and ready for the busy weeks ahead, as Celtic look to maintain momentum on both domestic and European fronts, not to mention a Glasgow Derby Cup final.
