Celtic F.C
Along with two teammates, the in-form Celtic star received well-earned international recognition.
Celtic will take a few weeks off to regroup before the March international friendlies later this month.
For some, it will be an opportunity to unwind for a while in a different setting away from the stress of our continuous search for a domestic double.
Conversely, players such as Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate will remain in Scotland to complete their recuperation from injuries.
Steve Clarke’s squad includes Greg Taylor and Anthony Ralston, who will have an opportunity to prove themselves in the Tartan Army’s upcoming matches against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland in hopes of earning a spot at EURO 2024.
Additionally, Hyeongyu Oh and Hyunjun Yang were regrettably left off of South Korea’s World Cup qualifying team for their doubleheader matchup against Thailand.
During his time leading the Taeguek Warriors, Jurgen Klinsmann frequently selected both players for the team. However, interim coach Hwang Sun-hong has broken this pattern.
Yang might still get the chance to play for their Under-23 team in Saudi Arabia at the West Asian Football Confederation (WAFF) U-23 Championships.
Three more Celtic players receive recognition abroad
Liam Scales, loanee Mikey Johnston, and in-form Celtic striker Adam Idah have been selected by Republic of Ireland interim manager John O’Shea for their friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland.
First up, on March 23rd, the Boys in Green play Belgium at the Aviva Stadium. Then, the following Tuesday, Switzerland plays in Dublin.
Idah has given Brendan Rodgers’ offence a new dimension since joining from Norwich City in January; in his first eight games, he has five goals and one assist [Transfermarkt].
Conversely, Johnston has flourished at West Bromwich Albion, scoring six goals during his productive time there, despite not being subjected to the demands of Parkhead life.
Many Celtic fans make the trip from the Emerald Isle to watch the Bhoys both at home and away, so they will be closely watching the performances of all three players as the Republic of Ireland looks to get off to a strong start in 2024.
The Irish Under-21 team has also called up Rocco Vata and Bosun Lawal for their UEFA EURO Under-21 qualifying match against San Marino on Friday [Ireland Football].
