Another questionable penalty decision goes way of Celtic’s title challengers

Celtic’s lead at the top of the Cinch Premiership has been reduced to just two points after the Rangers defeated Celtic 2-0 at Fir Park. Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell scored to secure the three points on Christmas Eve. However, the officials gave a Christmas present after a penalty was missed in the second half.

Dessers appeared to grab the Motherwell player as he reached for a rebound in the box. No penalty was given, and the incident was discussed by the Sky Sports team after the game, and the sentiment was fairly unanimous – even former Rangers player.

Some of the officiating decisions that have benefited teams in recent weeks have been questionable to say the least; however, it is incredible when you consider that Rangers have not conceded a spot kick in over 70 league games. Stuart Kettlewell, manager of Motherwell, also expressed his feelings at full-time.

Celtic will face Rangers in the second Glasgow Derby of the season next weekend, and it is shaping up to be quite an event. The Green Brigade/Bhoys are back, and there will be no away fans, so Celtic fans must rally behind Brendan and his team, who appear to be going through a difficult period right now.

Brendan Rodgers recently called for the abolition of VAR, and he is correct. It appears to be working only for one club, which has its own set of rules and is the only club that has not conceded a penalty kick since it was introduced.
