PSV Eindhoven coach Peter Bosz has opened the door for Rangers to sign Norway under-21 international Fredrik Oppegard, who is currently the Eredivisie leaders’ fourth-choice left-back.

Earlier this week, Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink stated that PSV’s primary goal during the January transfer window is to keep their table-topping squad together. Offers for Joey Veerman, Johan Bakayoko, and Hirving Lozano will be redirected to the nearest waste paper basket.

If there is one player who could leave, it is Fredrik Oppegard, the Rangers’ linked left-back.

Rangers are interested in PSV’s Fredrik Oppegard.

With all due respect, the former Go Ahead Eagles loanee will be missed. Following surgery in the summer, Oppegard has yet to play a single minute of Eredivisie football this season.

Oppegard is no longer a member of Bosz’s matchday squad, instead playing reserve team football for the ‘Jong PSV’ side in the Dutch second division.

When asked about Oppegard’s future by De Telegraph, Bosz said he would not stand in the way of the defender if Rangers increased their interest.

“I don’t have to (let him go),” says the former manager of Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, and Lyon. “But he is the fourth player now in his position.”
Ridvan Yilmaz could leave.

Despite his lack of playing time in the Netherlands, Oppegard could be an excellent addition to the Rangers roster. Oppegard is an excellent ball carrier who enjoys picking up the ball in deep positions and launching marauding runs into the final third. If Ridvan Yilmaz leaves and Borna Barisic stays, Philippe Clement will have a different, more athletic option at left back.

The Rangers are also interested in MLS star Kai Wagner. Liverpool, on the other hand, has turned down an offer for Owen Beck, while Josh Doig is closing in on a £4.3 million move to Torino.

Reports linking Steven Alzate and Emmanuel Dennis to a move to Glasgow in the middle of the season have also been dismissed.

in other news, Rangers and Celtic have been linked with the ‘next Paulo Maldini’ as a £6 million left-back is available for a bargain transfer.
