‘Been a huge miss,’ Brendan Rodgers says wounded Celtic player is going to return to contention.
Celtic fans will be in a good mood after winning consecutive away games against Hibernian and St Mirren last week.
Brendan Rodgers has now led his side to eight wins in nine games across all competitions, which has helped to generate some momentum despite the overall level of performance not always being up to par.
Nonetheless, grinding out results is the hallmark of a successful team, and the Bhoys have led the form guide in the Scottish Premiership over the last six matches, amassing 16 points [source: Football Webpages].
Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda shone in the Scottish Cup yesterday, and Celtic looked much more like their old selves.
Of course, Rodgers changed things up by putting Furuhashi just behind Adam Idah, giving the 29-year-old an extra yard or two of freedom to make things happen.
Tactical flexibility will allow the Hoops to change things up if they are struggling to break down opposing defences, which can only be a good thing in the context of the title race.
Brendan Rodgers has stated that Celtic’s Greg Taylor will soon be ready.
Rodgers was understandably upbeat following his team’s comfortable victory over St Mirren to advance to the Scottish Cup last eight.
The IrishRodgers stated [viaplay]: “Greg Taylor has been a significant loss for us. When Greg is not on the team, you can see what he brings.
“His brilliance, cleverness, technique, and physicality in terms of running and getting into the right spots. He’s back in training and will be available next weekend.man also revealed an important detail: Greg Taylor will be available to face Kilmarnock this weekend as he recovers from a calf strain.
Greg Taylor has been a major miss for Celtic.
Alexandro Bernabei has taken Taylor’s place, and his development has slowly begun; however, his positional counterpart remains Rodgers’ preferred left-backchoice.This season, the Scotland international has appeared in 30 games across all competitions, scoring two goals and assisting twice [Transfermarkt].
Bringing Taylor back into the fold will help provide structure and control during the attacking phases of play. Furthermore, Bernabei’s rise may challenge him for the position between now and the end of the season.
Having two players competing for starts can only be a good thing at Parkhead, as both will be expected to push each other all the way to earning regular minutes.
