With much of last season clouded by the threat of financial sanctions, it was widely expected that Forest would part ways with a number of star players this summer. So far, this prediction has proven correct, with a number of players ending their careers at the City Ground.

Sport Witness has relayed a Turkish press report claiming that Fenerbahce is interested in Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangare, with a club official scheduled to visit England for talks.

According to the outlet, Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Mario Branco, will travel to speak with clubs about Sangare and Crystal Palace’s Jefferson Lerma. According to reports, the Süper Lig club is still looking for a new midfielder after losing out on Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. They may pursue another midfielder instead.

Speaking shortly after his appointment as Forest manager in December 2023, Espirito Santo spoke of Sangare’s difficulties, telling the press:

“He isn’t at his best yet. He was seriously ill, lost weight, and had injury issues. However, he is an option for us. I know him and expect him to help the team. He can be extremely helpful to us.”

After signing a five-year contract with Forest, the club may decide to stick with Sangare in the future or cut their losses and try to recoup as much of the original fee as possible this summer.
