Bosun Lawal: A Rising Star on Loan Who Could Join Celtic’s First Team?
Bosun Lawal, a 20-year-old Celtic defender on loan at Fleetwood Town, is quickly emerging as a player to watch, with the potential to break into Celtic’s first team next season.
Lawal was first brought to Fleetwood Town by former Celtic captain Scott Brown when he was manager last summer.
Despite Brown’s departure and subsequent management changes at Fleetwood Town, with Lee Johnson and now Charlie Adam in charge, Lawal’s progress has continued to impress. Lawal has recently been deployed in midfield under Charlie Adam’s management, and his performances have earned him high praise from his current manager.
Lawal’s versatility has been a standout feature of his loan spell, as he has played as a centre-half, full-back, and defensive midfielder. At 6’2″, his physical presence and strength make him a formidable opponent in League One, where he has consistently made a name for himself.
Lawal took to X, formerly Twitter, after Fleetwood’s win at the weekend, where he was named man of the match, and posted “We keep going”.
This loan period at Fleetwood Town could provide Lawal with the necessary experience to break into the Celtic first team. Gaining senior-level experience against quality players and demonstrating versatility in defensive positions increase his appeal to Celtic’s coaching staff. Furthermore, his regular involvement with the Ireland under-21s lends an international dimension to his growing resume, highlighting his potential and readiness for greater challenges.
With Celtic likely looking for defensive reinforcements this summer, could Lawal be the man to step up? He’s been fantastic with the B Team, and now Fleetwood, he’s at least deserving of this opportunity.
