Following Brendan Rodgers’ exclusion from the dugout for Sunday’s Premiership match in West Lothian versus Livingston, CELTIC released a succinct, pointed statement.

The manager will also be able to resume his customary spot trackside at Ibrox the following weekend, having been handed a one-match suspended sentence until the end of the season.

The SFA disciplinary panel met with Rodgers earlier this afternoon in response to his remarks made after the highly contentious 2-0 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle on March 3. The Irishman took issue with the way the game was handled, since the hosts were given a fake penalty kick and winger Yang Hyun-jun was sent off.

Referee Don Robertson rendered both controversial verdicts after VAR official John Beaton intervened.

The statement said, “Clearly, we are disappointed with the outcome of today’s hearing, although we will accept the panel’s decision.

“The Manager appeared at the hearing today, and his defence was presented robustly and thoroughly.

“Like many other clubs, we will continue to press for the highest standards in relation to the VAR process in Scottish football.”

Since its launch in October 2022, new technology has caused a stir among the elite teams, and at the end of the current campaign, Crawford Allan will resign as head of SFA refereeing.
Amazingly, Robertson—who played a significant role in the odd decisions made at Tynecastle—will oversee Celtic’s match at Livingston.
