Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic backed to sign ‘important’ midfielder alongside Adam Idah

In order for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers to be ready to defend their Scottish Premiership title, these upcoming weeks will be crucial.

The Bhoys kicked off preseason with a 1-1 draw against Ayr United, managed by Scott Brown, to get the juices flowing and the legs moving.
However, you get the impression that the lineup Rodgers chose for that inaugural game might be very different from the one Celtic uses on August 4 to take on Kilmarnock in the league.

Naturally, some players are still on vacation following their commitments to Euro 2024 and other international games, but the transfer market is anticipated to stir things up, with discussions surrounding Hyeongyu Oh among them.

Adam Idah from Norwich City has been the talk of the window thus far, and Celtic supporters want the club to bring him back.

Given how well he played after going on loan in January—including scoring a vital late goal to defeat Rangers in the Scottish Cup final—it comes as no surprise.

However, he is not the only loan signing who made an impression and won over a lot of people while he was at Parkhead.

Paulo Bernardo, a midfielder who played for Benfica during the season in Glasgow, was another standout player. He scored against Rangers in the game on New Year’s Day and his effort set up Idah’s goal in the championship.

Simon Donnelly told Clyde 1 that he felt the 22-year-old did enough to merit a long-term contract, and he wants his former team to bring Bernardo back permanently in addition to Idah.
Although Bernardo’s early season starts may not have been justified, Donnelly believes there is a good reason for everything and that he nevertheless made a significant contribution with his goals.

Celtic supported the move to acquire Paulo Bernardo.
“Maybe he didn’t get as much game time as he would have liked, but I think Bernardo showed enough last season,” Donnelly said.

“Again, the Celtic midfield is a pretty strong area. I am aware that Hatate missed a brief period of time this season as well. When Bernardo played, I believe he didn’t disappoint anyone. He demonstrated enough by showing up at Dens Park with a significant objective.

A young man getting established. After Adam Idah, he would be someone else I would like to see around. Even at his young age, he managed to find his strong suit on the pitch by joining Celtic. O’Riley, McGregor, and Hatate would be the three most formidable. You’re attempting to push these guys aside so you can enter and try your luck. He should hang around, in my opinion. Something is present there.
