Brendan Rodgers expects to complete one or two signings in the “early period of the month.”

There are no genuine signs of business being completed five days into the January transfer window.

Celtic under Ange Postecoglou completed the majority of their signings prior to the transfer window opening; last season, Alistair Johnstone made his debut at Ibrox on January 2 after already training with his new teammates.

Following an underwhelming summer window in which only Luis Palma of seven signings made an immediate impact on the first team, Celtic fans are hoping for quality arrivals this month, first team starters to arrive and make an immediate impact.

Rodgers told The Sun about his own expectations:

The club will do absolutely everything it can to support what we need and what the team needs. There is lots of work going on in the background, and I’m pretty sure that in this early period of the month we can have some joy and get one or two in.

The early part of the month is open to interpretation, but with the next match scheduled for January 21, supporters can expect to see additions to the squad that will begin the Scottish Cup defence against Buckie Thistle at home.
