Brendan Rodgers’ True Celtic Transfer Ambitions Revealed
Journalist Keith Jackson of the Daily Record has exposed the true goals of Celtics manager Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market.
Eleven players have joined the Hoops since his return to the team. The eight permanent ones cost a total of 30.9 million euros, of which three were signed on loan (Transfermarkt).
Although it is unquestionably a substantial amount of money, there are good reasons to wonder if it was used wisely. Since Rodgers returned, the team has added quality with very few additions.
The manager has made much of this, but it appears that the club’s recruitment strategy has focused more on quantity than quality. The order should be reversed.
“He (Brendan Rodgers) would far rather, instead of spending £20m on seven players, spend £15m on three of four,” Jackson said (Record Celtic Podcast via 67 Hail Hail). Rodgers concurs.
If he were listening to this podcast right now, he would argue that. That would have his full support, and I am certain of it.
There’s no denying how recent the team’s performances and results have been, even though Rodgers may not share Celtic’s leadership’s perspective on hiring.
The Hornets are clearly regressing as they have already given up more points this season than they did during the whole previous campaign. This is the result of numerous factors, and winning the league appears to be a difficult task at the moment.
