Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is on the brink of franchise history

Given that Allen is a quarterback and the players he is pursuing are Hall of Fame running backs, the accomplishment is all the more remarkable. With 15 each, Allen and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles set the NFL mark for the most running touchdowns by a quarterback in a single season last season.

A true modern-day dual threat quarterback, Allen is closing in on a former Bills legend’s mark

Josh Allen has the Buffalo Bills at 6-2 and on top of the AFC East and now has a chance to make some team history in front of Bills Mafia this weekend against the team’s biggest nemesis in the Miami Dolphins. With a rushing touchdown on Sunday, Allen would hurdle into second place for rushing touchdowns in team history. Allen (56 career touchdowns) is one score shy of O.J. Simpson (57) for second place, and they’re both looking up at Thurman Thomas (65).

Allen started the 2024 NFL season with 53 career rushing touchdowns and even scored two with his legs in the Bills’ Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals. However, a wrist injury, some offensive sluggishness, and less necessity for Allen to run the ball has held him to just one rushing touchdown in his last seven games (against the Jets in Week 6.)
