Callum Hudson-Odoi injury update after Nottingham Forest ace forced off against Southampton
Callum Hudson-Odoi was pulled off due to an injury during Nottingham Forest’s victory over Southampton, leaving the team worried about his fitness.
A few minutes after scoring a spectacular goal to give the Reds a 2-0 lead at the City Ground, the 24-year-old made way. After being treated on the field, Hudson-Odoi cautiously left the field and appeared a little uneasy as Jota Silva took his place with 38 minutes remaining.
Before heading down the tunnel, the Reds wide player seemed to indicate his groin while speaking with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. After the game, Hudson-Odoi posted an update on social media, saying he hopes the issue is not a serious one.
He wrote: “+3!! Happy for the win and hopefully nothing serious. See you soon.”
Nuno said Hudson-Odoi had felt a stiffness when sprinting in the first half. Forest will carry out an assessment, with their next game coming on Saturday when they travel to face Bournemouth.
“We have to assess him. I hope it is nothing, but he is stiff. He felt it in a sprint. He was still able to shoot on goal, so that was good. I hope it is nothing,” Nuno told BBC Radio Nottingham.
The Reds defeated the Saints 3-2 on the banks of the Trent, surviving a comeback to extend their winning streak to eight Premier League games. They now share the same number of points as second-place Arsenal, despite the Gunners’ better goal differential.
In the first half, Forest had taken firm control thanks to goals from Chris Wood, Hudson-Odoi, and Elliot Anderson. However, a disallowed header by Nikola Milenkovic and a fortunate goal by Jan Bednarek set the stage for a tense finish when Paul Onuachu made it 3-2 in the first of 12 minutes of extra time.
