Ohio State Buckeyes transfer cornerback Ryan Turner has decided where he will play next season. Turner announced his transfer to Boston College on social media on Friday. He’ll be joining former Buckeyes co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who coached in Columbus for one season in 2019. Turner redshirted last season after appearing in three games, including Big Ten contests against Rutgers and Penn State. As a freshman, he had one tackle.

Turner appeared in two Big Ten games this season, against Minnesota and Michigan State, recording two total tackles.

Boston College finished the regular season with a 6-6 record and will face the No. 24 SMU Mustangs in the Fenway Bowl on Thursday, December 28. Eight of the Eagles’ 12 games ended within one score, and the defense was partly to blame, as Boston College allowed the third-most points per game in the ACC (29.5). The addition of Turner may be viewed as a way to improve the secondary, but the Eagles’ pass defense was one of the best in the ACC, allowing the fourth-fewest passing yards per game (197.7) in the conference.

Turner will now look to bolster one of Boston College’s strengths next season, hoping to find the expanded role that eluded him while in Columbus. On Friday, December 29, No. 7 Ohio State will face No. 9 Missouri Tigers at the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. As many players continue to enter the portal prior to bowl season, the Buckeyes, like many other teams this time of year, will look to make adjustments on the depth chart.
