Celtic is reportedly on the verge of making their first signing of the January transfer window, with Rapid Vienna’s Nicolas Kuhn emerging as a top target.

Following Football Scotland’s opening salvo on Wednesday evening regarding Celtic’s initial bid. MailSport Plus has fueled the speculation, implying that Celtic’s management is increasingly confident in bringing the 24-year-old German winger to Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers, who wants to improve Celtic’s attacking prowess, has identified Kuhn as a top candidate to bolster the squad for the crucial second half of the season. Celtic appears to have already begun formal talks with Rapid Vienna, with a sense of optimism surrounding the discussions. What’s the goal? To confirm Kuhn as Celtic’s first January signing.

Kuhn’s football career has included notable stints at some of Europe’s most respected clubs. After honing his skills at RB Leipzig and Ajax, he joined Bayern Munich before moving to Austria in 2022. Rapid Vienna paid around £500,000 to acquire Kuhn, and they’re now reportedly expecting at least four times that amount for his transfer.

This season, the 24-year-old has proven his worth on the pitch by scoring three goals and providing seven assists.

His potential arrival at Celtic could significantly improve the team’s offensive line-up, providing Rodgers with more depth and versatility. As the negotiations progress, Celtic fans eagerly await the possibility of seeing Kuhn don the famous green and white, which could be a watershed moment in the club’s January transfer strategy.
What does this mean for some Celtic wingers?

We are top heavy, and if we sign another winger, you can expect movement in the other direction. Palma is new to the team and doing well, while Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda have recently signed new contracts.
Mikey Johnston and Yang may face the chopping block in the coming weeks. James Forrest is also sitting there, but he’s part of the furniture at this point, so we’d be surprised if he leaves.

in other news, Twist: Celtic star Rocco Vata may be able to help Hoops land a new number nine.
