Celtic defender’s injury update: suspected fracture.
According to The Sun, Alistair Johnston suffered a’suspected fracture’ during Celtic’s 2-1 win over Hibs.
The suspected fracture is to his cheekbone, sustained when the defender was on the receiving end of a late and reckless challenge that earned Celtic a penalty–but at a cost.
Johnstone required four minutes of treatment in the penalty box before being stretchered off; Adam Idah converted the penalty, and Tony Ralston came off the bench to replace the Canadian.
Slow-motion replays of the incident showed Johnston appearing to be knocked out and landing awkwardly on the turf.

Ralston should start at right-back against St Mirren on Sunday and could be given a longer run in the team if a fractured cheekbone is diagnosed.
It will most likely take some time for the swelling and bruising to subside before a full verdict and recovery timeline can be determined, but Johnston appears unlikely to play again this month at the very least.
