Celtic duo caught up in international dispute
South Korean Celtic’s duo, Hyeon-gyu Oh and Hyun-jun Yang, have returned to the club after their involvement in the Asian Cup, which resulted in controversy for the national team.
The team was eliminated from the semi-finals after a 2-0 loss to Jordan, which was overshadowed by an off-field incident involving Tottenham captain Heung-min Son.
According to The Sun, Son and other team members got into an altercation the night before the semi-final match. The argument allegedly started during a team meal and escalated during a subsequent ping pong game, resulting in Son dislocating his finger.
The incident highlights tensions within the squad, with younger players allegedly leaving the meal early, prompting Son to request their return. This request was met with disrespectful remarks towards Son, which sparked the altercation.
Despite the incident, Son participated in the semi-finals with visible strapping on his fingers. Son continued to play with his injury when he returned to Tottenham, demonstrating the gravity of the situation.
Oh and Yang’s return to Celtic marks their reintegration into club duties, as both were on the bench and played in Celtic’s Cup victory over St Mirren on Sunday.
