Celtic Duo Surprisingly Drop Out of Scotland Squad
James Forrest and Greg Taylor, two Celtic players, have been left out of the Scotland team for their forthcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Portugal and Poland.
The unexpected announcement was made this morning, and it’s still unknown why they decided to call it quits.
Although Brendan Rodgers and the Lakers would be concerned about injury playing a role, we have to wait for official word from Steve Clarke or his assistant John Carver.
Josh Doig of Sassuolo has replaced Taylor in the starting lineup, but no new winger has been selected during Forrest’s absence.
Anthony Ralston, a right-back, is still the only Celtic player on the squad.
Following his retirement from international duty last month, Callum McGregor’s club has coincidentally gotten back on track.
To the dismay of Clarke and the national team hierarchy, the midfield player has scored goal after goal this season.
Clarke has added new players to the team, including Ryan Gauld of the Vancouver Whitecaps and Ben Doak, a former member of the Celtic academy. He will surely be missed greatly during the forthcoming international break.
The Scots will want to eliminate any residual disappointment from the European Championships by winning their first game in Nations League A group 1.
