Celtic fan doorsteps Philippe Clement at Rangers training base as he asks ‘I thought he was coming?’

When the clip intended for Celtic socials clout emerges, the Auchenhowie security guard recognised the script.

At the Rangers Training Centre, an arrogant Celtic supporter showed up, thinking their rivals were giving up on the Philippe Clement Rangers comeback.

With the mess Michael Beale left behind, the Belgian turned the Ibrox club into legitimate title contenders, and it appeared as though they would be leading the Scottish Premiership heading into the home stretch. That was before Ross County sent them packing from Dingwall with no points, and when it was finally played on the third try, they drew blank against Dundee.

With a three-point lead and a five-goal advantage over the Gers, Brendan Rodgers’ team is now at the top of the standings. A first derby victory for Clement would put Rangers back in the running heading into the final week of the season. The Old Firm match, which takes place at Parkhead on May 11, is shaping up to be crucial.

However, one Celtic fan—who obviously thinks of himself as a bit of a comedian—believes the Clement challenge is over. And showing up at Rangers’ Auchenhowie training base at 11.30 at night to ask the security guard if “Big Phil is in” to set up an admittedly niche punchline is probably at the tamer end of the scale in this day and age, when social media clout means people will do all sorts of bizarre things in the name of content.

Fan: “Is big Phil in?”

Security guard: “What?”

Fan: “Clement?”

Security guard: “Ah cannae hear ye”

Fan: “Is big Phil in?”

Security guard: “At hauf eleven at night?”

Fan: “I need to speak to him. Is he in?”

Security guard: “Haha naw mate naw.”

Fan: “Ah heard he was comin’ an’ aw.”
