Celtic fans will be stunned by Fabrizio Romano’s late-night transfer update.

Celtic fans have grown impatient with the lack of transfer activity over the last few weeks.

After months of hearing Brendan Rodgers speak about adding quality, fans entered the January window with high expectations.

Sydney van Hooijdonk, a former Dutch under-21 striker, has been linked with the club on numerous occasions.

Faxsoccer Celtic reported yesterday that transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano stated that there was ‘concrete interest’ from the Parkhead club.

We also discussed how Mark Guidi revealed that Celtic are keeping an eye on the 23-year-old, so there was a real sense among fans that van Hooijdonk could be the second signing of the transfer window.

In fact, speculation about Celtic’s interest has been going on since November, so it appeared that the club had a strong interest in the youngster.

However, it appears that this is no longer the case.

Sydney van Hooijdonk will not join Celtic.

Romano announced on social media channel X last night that the Dutch striker has agreed to join Norwich City, which will surprise Celtic fans.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Norwich have agreed to sign Sydney van Hooijdonk on loan from Bologna until the end of the season.

“Dutch striker will complete medical tests and sign the contract on Wednesday.

“Understand deal includes buy option clause, wanted by #NCFC.”

This will leave Celtic fans wondering who the club will turn to next. With less than 48 hours remaining in the transfer window, the clock is ticking on both the window and the patience of Celtic supporters.

Brendan Rodgers will have to pull something out of the hat to appease Celtic fans. Especially after their full-time reaction to the 1-0 victory over Ross County at the weekend.
