Celtic Flop in Fine Fettle With FC Basel
Celtic mishap Albian Ajeti is playing at his best level for FC Basel of the Swiss Super League.
The team has performed admirably thus far this season, but the striker has been particularly outstanding.
Ajeti has contributed to goals four times and assisted three times in his six league games this season, averaging one goal every sixty minutes.
For £5 million, the now 27-year-old signed with Celtic in the summer of 2020.
Despite coming in from West Ham United with high hopes, he was unable to build on his strong start in green and white.
Ajeti eventually signed a permanent contract with Gaziantep a year after leaving on loan for Sturm Graz in 2022.
But his time in Turkey proved fruitless, and in February he went back to his childhood club, Basel.
Ajeti had a rough start when he first returned, but he has really settled in for the new season.
With an impressive start to the season, he leads the Swiss top flight charts in both goals and assists combined.
Ajeti hopes he can continue to be consistent throughout this term and that his purple patch stays longer.
It’s good to see him back at home after his move to Celtic a few years ago didn’t work out.
