Celtic grants Neil Lennon permission to hold transfer talks with Hoops outcast
The Hoops legend is now in charge of Rapid Bucharest and is targeting a move for out-of-favour Ben Siegrist.
Neil Lennon is reportedly on the verge of signing Celtic’s forgotten man, Ben Siegrist.
Siegrist, 32, is free to leave Parkhead this summer after a difficult two seasons in Glasgow. Ange Postecoglou signed the former Dundee United No. 1 on a free transfer, but he has played only a few games for the Scottish champions. He didn’t play a single game last season and hasn’t kicked a ball since starting for Celtic in a 4-0 win over Motherwell in October 2022.
Siegrist is desperate to leave Celtic in order to start his career elsewhere, and according to the Daily Record, Lennon’s Rapid Bucharest has offered him a way out.
Siegrist is said to have been granted permission to travel to Romania for talks, as Hoops legend Lenny seeks to finalise a permanent deal.
Brendan Rodgers is happy to let go of the out-of-favour keeper after signing Denmark No. 1 Kasper Schmeichel and Finland international Viljami Sinisalo. The Celtics also have Scott Bain on their roster as a third option.
