Celtic F.C
Celtic have a 20-year-old youngster who should be playing more often, according to John Hartson.
The great thing about Celtic right now is that they have a slew of young players who have the potential to become stars for the club.
Jurgen Klinsmann, South Korea’s national coach, has tipped players like Hyeongyu Oh and Hyunjun Yang to become “superstars.”
Marco Tilio, Celtic’s record signing from the Australian A-League, has also been described as an exciting player by his Socceroo Assistant Manager, Ufuk Talay.
The Hoops also have a young Norwegian in their ranks, Odin Thiago Holm, and while he has impressed in the limited time he has been on the pitch, John Harston believes Brendan Rodgers needs to play him more to bring out the best in him.
“He’s had glimpses, hasn’t he?” Hartson said on [The Go Radio Football Show]. He was sent off in Feyenoord and then he had to serve a ban he’s not quite come back and have the same impact.
“But listen, I’ve seen Holm play very well this season. The times that I’ve watched me he’s played in little fits and starts.
“I think like the others, he is one of those that maybe needs a run of games. It’s difficult but the Celtic midfield is so strong.
“So sometimes Brendan can only put these players on when they’re two or three nil up when they’ve already won the game.”
Holm shone in a 3-1 away win against Aberdeen at Pittodrie at the start of the season. He was then called up for the Glasgow Derby victory at Ibrox, where he also impressed.
And it appears that Rodgers will use him sparingly from the bench this season. Holm has only played ten games for Celtic this season, averaging 27 minutes per game.
Since his brilliant 20-minute cameo against St Mirren earlier this month, he appears to have moved up the pecking order.
The youngster was also outstanding in Celtic Park’s 6-0 demolition of Aberdeen, and he appears to have a bright future at the club.
Holm has a lot of potential, and if Rodgers can bring it out, Celtic will have a real gem on their hands.
