Celtic F.C
Celtic made a declaration that their supporters much needed to hear.
Celtic has experienced an unusual season. It could have always been that way.
Ange Postecoglou, who joined Tottenham Hotspur in just two years, was a totemic presence at the Bhoys, and Celtic would likely go through a difficult period of adjustment until he was replaced.
Even though Brendan Rodgers had previously experienced success in Scotland, the Australian manager’s rock-and-roll football style left a lasting impression on Celtic supporters.
There have been signs of unrest among the supporters ever since Ange’s departure, both on and off the pitch, despite the team leading the Scottish Premiership for a significant portion of the season.
It was sink or swim time for this Celtic team when, as we all know, Rangers finally overtook the Bhoys. Fortunately, as the runners-up, they have performed admirably.
Dundee is destroyed, so Celtic must now break hearts.
The Dundee team’s 7-1 victory on Wednesday night was a clear declaration of intent.
The team’s first-half demolition of the Dees was an exciting sight not often seen this season, and it may prove to be a crucial scoreline in terms of goal differential compared to the Ibrox team.
The players’ battle to produce such a show under this manager was much needed by the supporters, and it positions Celtic for a thrilling Premiership season finale.
The season has gained new life thanks to the weekend’s second-half comeback against Motherwell and the Taysiders’ thrashing midweek, giving even the most pessimistic supporters something real to cheer about.
Callum McGregor, Adam Idah, Matt O’Riley, and the others now have another chance to prove that the defending champions are a tough team to defeat after what initially appeared to be a difficult trip to Tynecastle this weekend.
Chris Sutton, however, did a great job with his media duties for Sky. Nobody should exaggerate too much. The Bhoys must consistently deliver quality work and outcomes.
Notwithstanding their many current grievances with the team, the supporters will stand by this squad and lend their support. They have to react, seize this week as a catalyst to continue and achieve the success we know they are still capable .
Wednesday evening was evidence of that. It’s time to move forward in unity and optimism now.
