Celtic, Rangers, Southampton and Three other Premier League Clubs have held discussions and are hopeful to sign English striker.
Celtic are reportedly in talks to sign Middlesbrough’s Ajay Matthews.
The 18-year-old striker has a year left on his contract; if he is allowed to run down his contract, he could leave next summer for a small Development fee.
Celtic are certainly looking for a new striker, but it is unrealistic to expect someone who played in the u-18 EPL last season to challenge and cover Kyogo Furuhashi.
Matthews has appeared in three friendlies for the England Under-18 team.

Celtic have signed emerging strikers Joey Pearson and Jonny Kenny in recent seasons, but there has been little evidence of progress towards first-team football.
Pearson made one substitute appearance in December 2021 but was unable to build on it, while Kenny is on his second loan spell at Shamrock Rovers after a brief stint at Queens Park.
Next season, Celtic can offer Matthews the option of playing in both the Lowland League and the UEFA Youth League, with Darren O’Dea serving as the newly appointed Professional Pathway Manager.
