Celtic ready to make contract statement of intent

Johnston has been one of the team’s top performers in the first four league matches of the season, ranking highly amongst right-backs in the Scottish Premiership regarding percentage of tackles won, duel success rate, touches in the opposition box and creating chances.

Celtic salary parity is set for Alistair Johnston.
According to The Daily Record, Rodgers is eager to elevate Johnston to the level of other stars in the first team, acknowledging his significance, even though he is still bound by the terms of his original transfer from CF Montreal.

If the Canadian accepts the new contract, he will now rank among the team’s highest paid players, continuing Celtic’s recent trend of signing their biggest players to long-term contracts.
Given that Johnston recently expressed to Canadian media how much he has enjoyed his time at Celtic thus far, it should be easy to come to an agreement on terms.

Johnston could spend his prime years with Celtic.

With Johnston turning 26 next month, Celtic may be able to lock him down for his prime years and put an end to rumours that he might be leaving for a transfer.
The right course of action is to have younger talent at the club alongside an experienced core group that could be sold for a huge profit.

Johnston can be a part of that dependable group of players that keep the team moving forward and uphold standards despite player turnover in other positions.

It can be challenging to find trustworthy, good right-backs, but Celtic have found a winner in Johnston, and it is the right thing to do to make sure he is content and rewarded for staying in Glasgow.
