Celtic summer signing makes an unexpected loan move.

Kwon Hyeok-kyu has moved to St Mirren on loan for the remainder of the season after making no competitive appearances since signing from Buson Ipark in the summer.

The midfielder appeared in pre-season friendlies against Wolves and Athletic Bilbao, but has only made a few appearances as a substitute since the season began.

Hyeokkyu Kwon shares message after international efforts go under the radar; Celtic chances

The injury to Reo Hatate opened up a spot in Celtic’s midfield, but after David Turnbull, Tomoki Iwata, and Odin Thiago Holm were given opportunities, it appears that Paulo Bernardo, along with Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley, has taken over the position.
With Hatate back to full fitness, it’s clear that Kwon’s chances for the second half of the season are unlikely to improve.

Stephen Robinson has transformed St Mirren into a credible force, with the Paisley side vying for another top-six finish.

Kwon will face a tough battle to make the St Mirren squad, but it will allow him and Celtic to assess his suitability for playing in Scotland.
