Celtic Summer’s Unhappy Signing Attempts to Secure Loan Exit

Marco Tilio is reportedly looking to leave the club on loan during the upcoming January transfer window.

Celtic's Marco Tilio wanted for Australia loan return in January

This development, as reported by Australian outlet Ftbl, comes in light of Tilio’s limited playing opportunities since joining Celtic in July, with only two substitute appearances in the SPFL totaling 27 minutes.

Tilio’s representatives are said to be contacting Sydney FC and Melbourne City about possible loan opportunities in the A-League.

A loan move could provide Tilio with regular playing time, which is critical for his development and evaluation of long-term goals. Tilio is under contract with Celtic until 2028, indicating that the club sees potential in him. As a result, a temporary departure does not necessarily mean the end of his career at Celtic.

Tilio’s success at Celtic may necessitate a loan to another Scottish Premiership club or a European club rather than a return to the A-League. A move of this nature would allow him to adjust to the style and intensity of football in Scotland or Europe, which would be beneficial to his long-term development and integration into Celtic’s style of play.

Staying near the SPFL would have made sense, given Brendan Rodgers’ claim that he was struggling to adjust to the league and its demands.
