Celtic to demand ‘huge’ transfer fee for USA international that could break club record
According to Football Insider, Celtic will accept a bid for Carter-Vickers if their ‘huge’ asking price of £20-25 million is met.
Carter-Vickers is under contract until 2029 and as a crucial part of this team, the Hoops are ‘reluctant’ to see him leave. However, developing players and selling for profit is a key transfer strategy at Celtic and they are not about to stray from this approach.
With 13 Scottish Premiership starts this season, the 27-year-old has been an essential member of the Hoops. as a significant participant.
With four years remaining on Carter-Vickers’ current contract, Celtic is in a strong negotiating position. According to the report, if interest in signing him continues to grow over the next few weeks and months, the Hoops could negotiate a price above the £25 million asking price.
If it occurs, it will surpass the record of £25 million that Celtic has recently amassed from three distinct players. Carter-Vickers might be the club’s next big departure if they can get the £25 million each that Tierney, Jota, and most recently Matt O’Riley brought in.
With plenty of games left until the season ends, Celtic’s reliance on Carter-Vickers and their desire for additional hardware this season make any possible move of the defender more likely to occur in the summer than this month.
Celtic will welcome Dundee United at Parkhead this Wednesday before traveling to Ross County for the weekend after their routine victory over St Mirren to recover from their 3-0 loss to Rangers.
