Celtic return to action this afternoon as Motherwell make the short trip to Paradise. Brendan Rodgers’ team are currently eight points clear, with a game in hand, and could extend their lead with Rangers playing against Aberdeen on Sunday.

The teams played out an exciting game earlier in the season where three goals in nine minutes gave Rodgers’ side maximum points. Now, Celtic will be hoping to pick up where they left off domestically.

Team News

Celtic are without Reo Hatate, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda; however, Stephen Welsh is back training with the Champions. Luis Palma and Alistair Johnston returned to Glasgow yesterday from international duty, meaning they may be doubts to start.

In goals, Joe Hart will start.

Expect a backline to consist of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales in the central pairing with Greg Taylor and Tony Ralston starting at full back.

In midfield, you’d expect Callum McGregor to start with Danish Internationalist Matt O’Riley. The third midfield spot could go to David Turnbull. With Lazio on Tuesday, you’d expect the midfield to be rotated at some point today.

In attack, Kyogo will start. Given Palma’s travels at Tuesday night looming large, expect James Forrest and Yang to start on the wings.

Predicted XI: Hart; Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; McGregor, O’Riley, Turnbull; Yang, Kyogo, Forrest.

Referee Details

The SFA have confirmed that Steven McLean will referee the clash between the sides with David Roome and Steven Traynor working as Assistant Referees. They will be joined by George Calder, who will be conducting Fourth Official duties.

Meanwhile at Clydesdale House, David Dickinson has been appointed as the VAR Official and he will be assisted by Gary Hilland.

Kick Off Time

The game kicks off at 3pm.

Where to Watch

The game will be available for Celtic TV subscribers but is not available on PPV.

Back at the end of September, Luis Palma struck with a shot from outside the box and it looked as if the Honduran’s strike had settled the matter. However, Blair Spittal equalised shortly afterwards to seemingly share the points. Celtic went back up the pitch a short time later and Matt O’Riley scored an excellent goal with a brilliant finish to put the game beyond doubt.
