Celtic’makes £7.6m offer’ for Croatian internationalist, according to reports.
Celtic reportedly made an informal offer for Dominik Livakovic. The Croatian international is currently in Germany with the national team following an impressive debut season at Fenerbahce, where they finished second.
According to Football Insider, Celtic are looking into Livakovic as a replacement for Joe Hart. According to sources, Celtic bid £7.6 million for the player.
Perhaps more tellingly, the report states that the clubs have had extensive discussions about a deal, and a formal offer may be forthcoming. Celtic have conducted a wide search for a new goalkeeper with the quality to replace Hart, and Livakovic has been linked for some time.
Football Insider can be hit or miss with transfer stories, and there may be some speculation following reports in Turkey linking Celtic with a return for the 29-year-old.
The former Zagreb captain left Croatia for Turkey last season, but a move to Scotland may persuade him otherwise. However, he would have Champions League football and the opportunity to compete for trophies.
Livakovic could be available if new manager Jose Mourinho decides he needs another shot stopper. However, the legendary manager will most likely want to conduct a thorough pre-season evaluation of his team before making any changes.
