While many fans are fixated on Roco Vata and his contract saga, another story is brewing that is equally intriguing. This one is about Liam Scales, who has developed into a valuable member of the team.
Despite the attention focused on Vata, Scales’ situation may have far-reaching consequences for Celtic, especially since he has yet to sign a new contract with the club. [Record Sport]

Celtic 'open contract talks' with Liam Scales over long-term deal
Scales’ experience with Celtic is reminiscent of a fairy tale. He was nearly sent back to Aberdeen at the start of the season, but a stroke of luck changed everything. Celtic needed him to stay because of team injuries. Scales took advantage of this opportunity and shone brightly early in the season. However, football can be unpredictable, and Scales hasn’t appeared to be as commanding or productive recently.

His current contract with Celtic expires in summer 2025. The big question now is whether Scales sees a future with Celtic after this summer. Brendan Rodgers clearly believes in him, as Scales continues to receive significant playing time.

This could imply that Rodgers believes Scales is still committed to the team and that the player will sign a new contract soon. However, as the summer transfer window approaches and new players are expected to join, Scales may be considering his place in the team.

Scales will not rest on laurels after rapid Celtic rise

If he stays, Scales may end up as a backup, much like Anthony Ralston has been—a vital role that keeps the team strong, but one that Liam would not likely enjoy. Scales is in a good position to negotiate a great deal for himself, and who could blame him for doing so?

Fans and the club were fine with him leaving last summer, but now it’s up to him. Will he stay with Celtic, or will this summer be his last?
