Chris Rigg’s three-word message to Sunderland player Nectarios Triantis following loan exit
Nectarios Triantis completed a deadline-day loan move from Sunderland to Hibernian.
Triantis, 20, joined Hibernian on deadline day after struggling for playing time with Sunderland in the first half of the season, following his summer move from the Central Coast Mariners.
He remains a real prospect for the Black Cats, but with the defensive line-up unlikely to change, Sunderland seized what Kristjaan Speakman describes as a ‘unique opportunity’ to send Triantis to Hibs, who are managed by Triantis’ former Mariners manager Nick Montgomery.
Hibernian, who replaced former Sunderland manager Lee Johnson with Montgomery, are currently in seventh place in the Scottish Premiership table, and Triantis now has the opportunity to gain experience in British football.
Hibernians also signed Sunderland striker Eliezer Mayenda on loan yesterday.
Sunderland teen Chris Rigg posted a farewell message to his teammate on his Instagram story:
Rigg, a Sunderland player, has appeared in seven Championship games this season and scored once.
in other news, Newell is pleased with Hibernian’s ‘drastic’ change under manager Montgomery.
