What Charles Watts said about Forest defender Nuno Tavares:

This situation appears to be extremely complicated and has the potential to become very messy.

According to Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts, Marseille would like to sign Tavares on a permanent basis this month.

The Forest loanee is eager to move, but Nuno Espirito Santo wants him to stay at the City Ground.

Things are currently extremely complex, despite Arsenal’s desire to cash in on the 23-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Tavares has recently earned a spot in the Forest team, and he started games against Blackpool and Brentford.

Clearly, Espirito Santo has seen something in him, and Forest’s desire to keep Tavares complicates matters at the station.

Forest may act later in the window.
Although the transfer window is only open for another week, the Reds may decide to offload Tavares later.

Finally, with Ola Aina and Serge Aurier both away for the African Cup of Nations, Forest are currently short on full-back options.

Tavares hasn’t been particularly impressive during his time at Forest, and he’s been a waste of a loan.

Forest haven’t done a particularly good job with loan deals this season, and improvements are needed going forward.

Tavares isn’t going to stay at Forest for long, and if he wants to leave, Forest should cut ties with him.
