Concerns about Kyogo’s subdued state
This season, a familiar hero finds himself in unfamiliar waters. Kyogo Furuhashi, once synonymous with success and achievement, is going through a difficult time.
The Japanese striker, known for his electrifying performances and knack for decisive goals, appears to be looking for his lost spark, particularly after his unforgettable strike in the Glasgow Derby that secured victory for the Bhoys in green in December.
Kyogo’s Major Celtic Issue
It appears that the problem does not only affect Kyogo. A significant portion of the problem stems from Celtic’s current style of play, which has seen a noticeable decrease in creativity and fluidity. The lack of support from the midfield and wingers has been obvious, with Kyogo frequently isolated among a sea of defenders, yearning for an opportunity to demonstrate his brilliance. On the rare occasions when he finds space, his attempts to start a promising run are met with perplexing indifference from his teammates.
This stagnation resulted in Kyogo being benched for the majority of the match against Hibernian. Despite playing as a substitute, he had a significant impact in the final 20 minutes, earning a penalty that led Celtic to a massive victory, which Adam Idah converted. Idah’s heroics dominated the post-match celebrations at Easter Road, casting an uncharacteristic shadow over Kyogo, whose usual vibrant celebrations were replaced by a solemn demeanour.
Kyogo’s time at Celtic has been nothing short of sensational, exemplifying Ange Postecoglou’s relentless drive and passion as manager. His current slump in form stands in stark contrast to his explosive start in Scotland, indicating a lack of confidence rather than a decline in inherent talent. As Celtic’s most natural goal scorer, the desire to rekindle his form is palpable, not just for the sake of the team’s success, but also to see Kyogo leading the charge, arms raised in triumph, basking in the adoration of the Celtic faithful.
Kyogo’s path back to form is not a solitary one. The team must work together to rediscover its creative edge and transform stagnant play into dynamic, attacking football. If the team performs well, Kyogo scores goals; it’s that simple.
