This month, Leeds United have been joined in their pursuit of Hammarby centre-back Nathaniel Adjei by another EFL rival, Coventry City.

With a month until the January transfer window opens, plans will be developed at Elland Road to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad for the remainder of the season.

The German’s first-choice pairing at center-back is fairly obvious, but he may have to bolster his options if Charlie Cresswell decides he’s wasting his time sitting as fourth choice.

Last month, Voetbal Krant reported that Leeds was one of several clubs interested in Hammarby’s talented center-back Nathaniel Adjei.

The Ghana under-21 international has impressed in Sweden’s top flight, and Leeds is one of a few Championship clubs interested in bringing him in during the January transfer window.

According to the above report, the fee that Leeds would be willing to pay to sign him from Hammarby would be up to £3.5 million in 2024.

Coventry to make a move?

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Leeds United and Coventry City are both interested in signing Adjei in the new year.

It remains to be seen whether Adjei is a concrete target for Leeds and Coventry, but it should serve as a reminder to the 49ers that other clubs are also developing transfer strategies.

Targets for sides vying for promotion are likely to overlap if both clubs are looking for recruits in the same position.

Adjei is a good example of this – a player at a great age for development, but also very experienced, who possesses the all-round qualities required to excel in the Championship and possibly the Premier League.
