Despite Leeds United’s deadline-day interest, Leicester City’s man is set to stay with the club
Despite deadline-day interest from Leeds United, Leicester City defender Harry Souttar is set to stay with the Foxes, according to Football Insider.
Leicester City remain at the top of the Championship table, ten points ahead of second-place Ipswich Town. Enzo Maresca’s side appears to be on track to return to the Premier League this year, and the Foxes have strengthened further this month.
But one man who has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium is Souttar. Leeds United’s Daniel Farke expressed interest in the Australian international earlier today, but now it has been said that he will not leave the club despite interest from Championship promotion rivals.
Souttar, 25, has made just three Championship appearances for Leicester City this season, but despite a move looking like a smart option, he will remain a Foxes player past tonight’s deadline.
Not long left
Leeds United have been looking for defensive reinforcements for a while, but they’ve hit a brick wall.
A move for Souttar has always seemed ambitious, especially given the high price Leicester City paid for the defender only a year ago.
Farke’s side has been in good form recently and appears to be in contention for the final automatic promotion spot in the second tier.
It appears that it will come down to the wire in what promises to be another entertaining Championship promotion race.
There is still time for clubs to close deals, but the window closes at 11 p.m., so time is running out.
Leeds United travel to Bristol City tomorrow evening. Leicester City will play Stoke City away on Saturday.
