Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an Everton striker, talked about his one “bugbear” with the Goodison Park crowd.

The England striker stated to the Everton official website on May 15 that although he has appreciated the different songs yelled at him by the Toffees’ away fans, he doesn’t think the Goodison Park crowd has ever performed a custom song for him.

The victory over Sheffield United on Saturday marked Everton’s last Premier League home game of the season. They will play their final game at their Bramley-Moore Dock stadium the following season.

“My pet peeve is that, despite my goal totals, I have never really had a song associated with it, have I?” stated Calvert-Lewin.

“I would love to have one at home and maybe that can be it, but I have the one [to the tune of UB40’s Kingston Town] that pops up at away games.”

Calvert-Lewin had a fantastic season finale, which has reignited transfer rumours and discussions about his intentions to rejoin England soon.

Will Dominic Calvert-Lewin return to England?
Calvert-Lewin is currently in the prime of his career; whether he stays at Everton is another story, but the Blues’ chances of keeping the striker are significantly increased by the team’s progress and Premier League safety under Sean Dyche.

Although Gareth Southgate has given Calvert-Lewin all 11 of his England caps, the striker hasn’t played for the Three Lions since 2021 and will look to move up the ranks in a front line that primarily consists of Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, and Ivan Toney.

Although Gareth Southgate has given Calvert-Lewin all 11 of his England caps, the striker hasn’t played for the Three Lions since 2021 and will look to move up the ranks in a front line that primarily consists of Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, and Ivan Toney.

Calvert-Lewin appears to be best suited to play football at Everton, where he is first choice under Dyche, has developed a strong bond with the Merseyside crowd during his eight years there, and has demonstrated a great mentality in recovering from injury setbacks.

For his England future, Calvert-Lewin’s best bet is to continue where he left off at the end of this season, having scored four goals in his last six games in blue. A possible new manager and an innovative attacking system following Euro 2024 may improve his chances.
