Dons boss asked about outstanding transfers after acquiring Hibs centre-back
AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson has not ruled out adding more players to his squad before the summer transfer window closes, but he is very focused on the group he has at his disposal right now.
This summer’s arrivals at Plough Lane include Matty Stevens, Joe Pigott, Owen Goodman, Myles Hippolyte, Callum Maycock, and Alistair Smith.
The Dons suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-0 to South London rivals Bromley on Saturday.
“We just have to get better at what we’re doing,” said Jackson.
“If there is an opportunity to bring a player in who we think is going to help, then we will look at it.
“We have to focus on the group that we have and get better at it.
“We’re three games into the season and we have won two. There are loads we have been good at, but there are things we need to brush up on.
“We need to learn from those mistakes to get better.”
Last week, the Dons signed centre-back Riley Harbottle, 23, on a two-year contract from Scottish club Hibernian.
“That’s another option for us. He can play in a back three or four – he’s quite versatile.
“He has good experience of the league. He has played a whole season at Mansfield and half a season at Colchester.
“He will be a good player for us.”
When asked if Wimbledon will look for a loan for Ethan Sutcliffe after bringing in another defender, Jackson replied, “Yeah probably.
“We will look at how we get him games now for his development.
“It will probably be through the loan system.”
