Amadou Onana, a midfielder for Belgium, has stated that he can “present himself” to the elite of Europe at EURO 2024. He has been linked to leaving Everton in the summer.

In a lengthy interview, Onana talked about his hopes of drawing interest from elite European clubs with his performances in this summer’s Championship with the Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws.
The defensive midfielder from Belgium, who is among the high-value players the Toffees appear likely to offload in the upcoming transfer window, seems eager to put himself in the shop window based on his comments.

“You have seen that the players who did well moved up to the top clubs at previous tournaments,” Onana responded when asked if the Euros were a platform for him to introduce himself to bigger clubs.

After a dangerous season filled with point deductions for financial fair play violations, Everton needs to clear out big-money players this summer.

In addition to Jordan Pickford, Jarrad Branthwaite, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who soon will be without a contract, and other players on the playing roster at Goodison Park, Onana is one of the most marketable players.
Although the club has not yet received any offers for Onana, a move of at least £50 million has been suggested for the Belgian. Based on his remarks while on international duty, it appears he hopes to command a fee of that magnitude following an impressive tournament in Germany this summer.

The Belgian’s remarks about wanting to move to a bigger club appear genuine, so the onus is now on Onana to earn himself a transfer. Reports indicate that Everton has already linked and approached potential replacements for Onana, at varying fees.

These remarks will not sit well with Everton supporters, and it might be the ideal time for them to part ways.
