Everton handed fresh takeover update ahead of Sheffield United clash

Everton fans have been given a takeover update after months of waiting for news on their proposed new owners.

As Everton gets ready to play Sheffield United this weekend, a cloud of uncertainty persists. Prior to their encounter at Goodison Park, both teams are aware of their league destiny: the Blades have already confirmed they will play in the Championship after a disastrous season, while the Toffees, who have lost six points due to deductions this year, are safe from relegation.

United’s off-field financial situation is not great, but Everton’s problems are far worse. The Toffees have been waiting months for a takeover to proceed, and in the meantime, they have been accumulating points deductions due to their constant overspending while building a new stadium.

Farhad Moshiri accepted 777 Partners’ bid, despite controversy surrounding their other clubs. However, there have been questions raised about the American consortium’s long-term financial stability. According to a recent report from The Times, Moshiri is scheduled to meet with 777 Partners for crisis talks and may decide to back out of the agreement at this point because his patience is running thin.

According to the report, Moshiri will have to pay for the team out of pocket or actively look for a new owner if he decides to back out of the agreement. Everton supporters have been waiting for a resolution like this since there hasn’t been much information released since the takeover was first agreed upon back in September.

However, Moshiri’s management style hasn’t exactly won over Toffees supporters, so there will be new worries that he’ll be in charge of the team for a long time to come.
