Everton handed major boost for Nottingham Forest clash after statement released
A blow has been dealt to Nottingham Forest ahead of their matchup with Everton.
An exciting matchup awaits the City Ground team when they visit Goodison Park on Sunday. Third in the Premier League standings, Forest is this season’s surprise package. On Boxing Day, they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 to claim their most recent triumph.
However, Forest will play Everton, a team that has won three straight games with impressive results. The Blues gained a well-earned 1-1 draw at Manchester City Sunday after frustrating title chases against Arsenal and Chelsea ended in 0-0 draws. In their last four games, Sean Dyche’s team has also failed to give up a goal.
To their credit, Forest has triumphed this season at Manchester United and Liverpool. They will, however, be traveling to Everton without Ryan Yates, their captain. Against Spurs, the midfielder received his fifth Premier League yellow card of the year and was suspended for one game.
Yates has been a linchpin for Nun Espirito Santo’s side, making 18 appearances and scoring once this season. A Premier League statement said: “In addition to [Manuel] Ugarte, eight other players have reached the yellow card suspension threshold.
Tomas Soucek and Guido Rodriguez of West Ham United, Matty Cash of Aston Villa, Ryan Yates of Nottingham Forest, Justin Kluivert of AFC Bournemouth, Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace, Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool, and Jordan Ayew of Leicester City were all given their fifth yellow card.
After serving a one-game suspension against Tottenham, Nicolas Dominguez will be eligible again for Forest. “It was a good performance,” Santo told reporters after the victory. We have discussed the caliber of this Spurs club and their high goal total.
“The way we started was nice and brave. We tried to keep tight on the Spurs players, and that gave us an advantage in not allowing them to play. After that, we really went out well in the first half.
“Second half, we started better and created some situations. In the final moments of the game it was about defending and sticking to the result. The belief and the commitment of the players to avoid any kind of danger was good.
“What can I say about the help of the fans at the City Ground? Today was really, really special. It is huge for us that we are now starting to see this bond that makes us stronger.”
