In January, Everton planned to raid Luton Town in an attempt to sign Elijah Adebayo, despite Crystal Palace’s interest.
Elijah Adebayo of Luton Town is being considered by Everton as a potential replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as reported by ReluctantNicko on Patreon. When the transfer window reopens in January, it is anticipated that the Toffees will knock on the Hatters’ door.

Adebayo moved from Walsall to Luton at the beginning of 2021, and he hasn’t looked back. He contributed significantly to their promotion to the English Premier League and followed it up with a respectable season the previous season.
The 26-year-old scored 10 goals in just 27 Premier League games the previous season. However, his efforts were insufficient to keep Luton in the top division. But Everton is among the teams eager to get him back to the English first division after his performances were noticed.

The English striker is anticipated to be Sean Dyche’s top target during the winter transfer window. The Everton manager anticipates that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will leave the team soon, and they have been closely monitoring Adebayo to take his place.

If the Toffees had been able to approve Calver-Lewin’s departure, the manager would have put in a bid for the Luton striker last week. Even though the summer didn’t go as planned, Dyche is anticipated to return in the winter to sign him.

The Championship team, meanwhile, is prepared to approve his departure for a budget of between £15 million and £20 million. Calvert-Lewin has not yet agreed to a new contract, and his current one expires in less than a year. Therefore, it makes sense to push for his departure, and the funds raised would be sufficient to sign Adebayo to the team.

Everton and Crystal Palace will compete for Adebayo.

However, Crystal Palace is also keeping an eye on the 26-year-old, so they are not the only team interested in signing him. In the past few months, Jean-Philippe Mateta has drawn a lot of interest. Should he decide to leave, the Eagles will work hard to sign Adebayo from Luton.
