Exciting Celtic summer transfer update
Glasgow is expected to have a busy off-season.
Before the summer transfer window opens, Celtic is getting things ready, as one journalist has shared an exciting triple update.
Celtic shape under Rodger.
By their high standards, the Hoops’ season hasn’t been the best; rival Rangers are currently leading the Scottish Premiership. In the latter months of the season, Brendan Rodgers seemed to be under pressure, but those in Glasgow also won the Scottish League Cup.
Rangers have benefited from Celtic’s seven league point losses to Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, and Hearts in recent months. It is thought that Rodgers will be fired if the team doesn’t win the Scottish Premiership.
However, Rodgers has been speaking as if he believes he will be in charge in 2024–2025, as evidenced by his recent remarks:
“After taking a closer look at this group, I’m incredibly excited about the upcoming season. Players who were sidelined for some time have caught my eye, and I want to grow this team.
On that front, a lot of work is being done. Is this an opportunity for me to sign it? Yes, in my opinion, we lost key players who changed the way the game looked (last summer).
“Those players had personalities in addition to being skilled football players. Losing that personality from the team is difficult.
“Giving the guys here a chance was imperative as they had just finished a season in which they won a treble.” However, I also understand from my football experience, particularly at teams like Celtic, that there is a turnover every three to four years.
“You need to reenergize the team even if you’re winning. We will consider doing that in the summer.
If he stays in the Parkhead dugout, it seems like he could sign more than one player.
Update on Celtic’s summer transfer
On Tuesday, reporter Pete O’Rourke provided Football Insider with an update on Celtic transfers, stating that the team “is prioritising three positions as they lay the groundwork for a huge summer overhaul.”
Prioritising the signing of a new custodian, winger and striker before the 2024–25 season is top priority for those at Parkhead. With Joe Hart scheduled to retire in the upcoming months and Liel Abada, their winger, needing a replacement, they should be busy following their loss to the Rangers.
Regarding specific goals, there has been discussion this year about a move for Caoimhin Kelleher, the custodian for Liverpool, who may be persuaded to move for regular first-team football over the summer. Any deal involving the Reds custodian, though, might cost up to £15 million.
A permanent move for Norwich City loanee Adam Idah will cost Celtic a lot of money, but after turning a profit the previous year on Jota’s move to Saudi Arabia and Abada’s move to the Major League Soccer, the money may be available for the Hoops during what is expected to be a busy time.
