Hannibal Mejbri will decide whether to join Everton from Manchester United during the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking to GiveMeSport on Monday (8 January), the Italian journalist stated that the Tunisia international will take his time deciding whether to sign with the Toffees or Sevilla, with the Red Devils requesting that his entire salary be covered for a loan move.

He also stated that the La Liga club prefers to include a buy option in any potential transfer, while Erik ten Hag prefers to include a buy-back clause in the agreement.

“Everton are in the race for Hannibal, now it’s on the player,” Romano added. “He has to decide whether he wants to go to Sevilla, honour his word, and join the Spanish side. If he wants to stay in the Premier League, he can go to Everton and play under a different system and coach.

“So Hannibal will take his time making a decision, and it will also be interesting to see what kind of proposal they make to Manchester United.” United wants their entire salary covered, but it’s also important to see what happens with the buy options. Sevilla requested a buy option in the agreement, while United requested a buy-back clause.

“So there is a deal to structure and it is not something super imminent, and this is why Hannibal will take his time to decide between Everton and Sevilla.”

Hannibal is a player with a lot of potential, so Everton should do everything they can to make the transfer happen.

Since joining Manchester United’s academy from Monaco in 2019, the midfielder hasn’t had many opportunities, with nine of his 12 first-team appearances this season.

He had an impressive season on loan with Birmingham City in the Championship last year, scoring one goal and providing six assists in 41 appearances.

Given their reluctance to let him go without a buy-back clause, the Red Devils clearly believe he has the potential to be a promising young player.

It is now up to the Toffees to persuade him that they are the right club to help him reach his full potential, as they look to add younger players to their squad who can be sold later.

in other everton news, Everton are attempting to sign Hannibal Mejbri as a result of a contract dispute with Manchester United.
