Five-Year Deal to Be Confirmed by Celtic
Celtic are set to sign 22-year-old Finnish goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo from Aston Villa on a five-year contract. The transfer is expected to be completed this week after the two clubs agreed on a fee.
Sinisalo, who is highly regarded for his potential and performances, is expected to join the Scottish champions for a fee around £1 million. [Mark Hendry]. Celtic and Aston Villa negotiated over the weekend, resulting in a mutually beneficial agreement.
The young custodian is scheduled to have a medical, with an official announcement expected soon after. This move is part of Celtic’s long-term goalkeeping solution, following Joe Hart’s retirement. Kasper Schmeichel will take over as the number one custodian, while Sinisalo continues to develop in the hopes of succeeding the Dane in 12 or 24 months.
Manager Brendan Rodgers wants to lock in key players ahead of the team’s trip to the United States, ensuring a well-rounded squad as we prepare for domestic and European competitions.
Celtic is likely to return from the United States heavier than when they arrived. Kasper Schmeichel plans to meet with his new teammates in the United States on Thursday after finalising his contract. Bernardo could also make the trip across the pond if a deal is reached in the coming days. There is no sign of Idah at this time, but work is continuing behind the scenes.
During their trip, the Hoops will face DC United, Manchester City, and Chelsea. Hopefully, we will see some debuts and returns during these games.
