The Scottish youngster had a difficult spell with the League One club.

Celtic have recalled youngster Adam Montgomery from his injury-plagued loan spell at Fleetwood Town.

The 21-year-old left-back signed a season-long loan deal with the Cod Army this summer, reuniting with former Hoops captain Scott Brown. However, the ex-Aberdeen and St Johnstone loanee’s time with the League One club has been cut short after only six appearances, the last of which came in a 3-0 defeat at Northampton at the start of December.

Adam Montgomery recalled from Fleetwood Town loan by Celtic
A Fleetwood statement read: “Fleetwood Town can confirm that defender Adam Montgomery has been recalled by his parent club Celtic FC. The 21-year-old made six appearances for the Cod Army, starting with a 2-0 home win over Tranmere Rovers in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.Montgomery’s time on the Fylde Coast was hampered by a series of injuries, which limited the defender’s time on the pitch during his brief stint with the League One club. Everyone at the club would like to thank Adam for his efforts and wish him the best of luck in the future when he returns north of the border to rejoin the Hoops.”

Fleetwood also has Celtic prospect Bosun Lawal on their roster, and the defender has made 26 appearances so far. However, the Cod Army has had a turbulent few months, with Charlie Adam recently appointed as their THIRD manager of the season following the dismissal of Brown and ex-Hibs boss Lee Johnson.
