Former Celtic hero Chris Sutton shares what it’s really like working with Kris Boyd on Sky Sports

Former Celtic striker, Chris Sutton, has just started his second season on Sky Sports covering Scottish football this month.

Sutton talks about Boyd and “mutual respect.”
The former Celtics star admits that he occasionally gets annoyed by some of Boyd’s thoughts about the sport, but in this instance, he describes how they get along well enough to collaborate on their Sky Sports broadcasts.
Sutton expressed his enjoyment of the game to World Football Index. As far as I’m aware—Kris might disagree—Kris and I have mutual respect for one another. Both Kris and James were excellent players and goal scorers. I like having them around. Our love of football informs a lot of what we say.

“I respect Kris, but he was the Rangers guy and I was the Celtics guy. He says what he thinks and stands by it, which is why I admire him.He can be annoying at times and can make people angry. But, I genuinely believe that he is a superb pundit. James, who is usually in the middle, rolls his eyes at the two of us, but I like working with him.

“I love travelling north of the border to commentate on games and serve as a pundit because football is all about opinions. I’ve had a great time sparring with James and Kris.I’ve had a great time starting the season and I adore the Scottish game. Some interesting stories are beginning to emerge.
As they attempt to express their divergent opinions about the game, the two of them engage in some entertaining verbal sparring on television.
With six more Glasgow Derbies possible this season and another season ahead of them, I’m sure we’ll see plenty of back-and-forth between Sutton and Boyd as Rangers attempt to unseat Celtic as the premier team in Scotland.
