Former F1 Driver Warns Hamilton About Ferrari Teammate Leclerc
Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari next season, partnering Charles Leclerc and replacing Carlos Sainz. The move marks a significant shift for Hamilton, as it will be his first time racing for a team outside the United Kingdom.
Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert has cautioned that Hamilton will face a formidable challenge from Leclerc, who has established himself as a competitive and determined driver.
Leclerc, who finished third in this year’s championship, had an impressive season, securing dominant victories in Monaco, Monza, and Austin. His track record of outperforming seasoned teammates, including four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, underscores his capability.
Speaking to Plejmo.com, Herbert emphasized Leclerc’s competitive spirit:
“Charles [Leclerc] is not going to hold back. When [Sebastian] Vettel went there as a four-time world champion, Charles came in and nicked the team off Sebastian. He is not going to be afraid of Lewis [Hamilton].
He will be aware and respectful, and he knows he will be a threat. But he is going to make sure he will be very much on top of his game when hostilities commence.
Charles has come on in a long way this year. The challenge will raise him to the level that he and Ferrari needs.”
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari sets the stage for an intriguing dynamic between the two drivers, with both expected to push each other to perform at their peak.
