Rangers F.C
Former Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid manager tipped to lead Rangers’ charge and give Celtic a proper fight!
Rangers’ search for a new permanent manager continues, and one name making waves is none other than Rafa Benitez.

The former Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid boss has been backed as the man to challenge Celtic’s dominance and go head-to-head with Brendan Rodgers in Scotland.
Could Benitez Be the Answer?
Pundit Gordon Dalziel has thrown his support behind Benitez, believing the Spaniard has the experience, tactical acumen, and winning mentality to take Rangers to the next level.
Dalziel told Open Goal:
“I would take [Benitez] all day long. I look at the other side of the city and I see what they’ve got in Brendan Rodgers. Rangers need a big character who truly believes in himself to go head-to-head [with Celtic].”

While other names, including Frank Lampard, Russell Martin, and even a surprise unknown figure, have been mentioned, Dalziel insists Benitez is the high-profile appointment Rangers need.
Benitez’s Rangers Connection
Back in 2021, Benitez acknowledged Steven Gerrard’s title-winning success at Ibrox, claiming he played a role in his former midfielder’s development as a coach.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Benitez said:
“I have had many players who at the time were complaining, but after they became coaches, they say: ‘Oh, Rafa was teaching me that.’ You will always remember the teachers who were pushing you.”
Will Rangers Make a Move?
With Barry Ferguson impressing as interim boss, speculation will continue over whether Rangers will go for an experienced campaigner like Benitez or take a gamble on an up-and-coming manager. But one thing is certain—whoever takes over must be capable of bringing the fight to Celtic.
